Overview
The MacBook Pro 13/15/17" looks just great from the outside and "inside" (when laptop is open). I personally prefer the glossy one, because the colours are more vivid, and the screen's borders look just cooler. Especially the i7 2.66 one feels like a monster when it comes to gaming, and even more when exporting HD videos or editing them. In anyway you use it, the hard work will take only a breeze, and you will enjoy all the way.
Performance
It's performance is just "beyond limits" (it is supposed to). Exporting a full HD video in Screenflow (go to TheMacApper's Best Paid Mac Apps) or iMovie on MBP (MacBook Pro) 15" takes of course more than some "normal" videos which export maybe sometimes (depends on the video and the program) faster than what they are long. I promise you to give you some statistics soon, and I will edit this post to post some, but also post some "independently".
